“WE BELIEVE IN GENERATIONS”
Microsoft’s cross-gen platforming-agnostic approach is fascinating to see, purely because it’s unlike anything any other console manufacturer has done in the past. From their perspective, it makes a ton of sense of course, what with Game Pass and xCloud now being central to their strategy- but for Sony, that’s not the way to go. While Microsoft was confirming backward and forward compatibility for games and accessories across Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, Sony came out with the PS5’s announcement, promising experiences unlike anything the PS4 would have been able to offer, and saying in no vague terms that they “believe in generations.” It was definitely a statement.
