The artificial intelligence in Grand Theft Auto 4 is generally fine, most of the time. The world itself feels well realized thanks to its NPCs. But it’s the odd instances where the game glitches that things start to tear at the seams. Whether its bugs that can cause massive pile-ups among vehicles or everyone bashing your brains in if you’re tipsy and firing a gun indiscriminately (due to a bug but still), GTA 4’s AI issues are more weird than outright terrible.
