THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD
With the likes of The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Link’s Awakening, Majora’s Mask, and Skyward Sword, The Legend of Zelda is a franchise that has delivered a number of memorable and excellently told tales, and Breath of the Wild, with its epic and sweeping scale, was uniquely position to tell a tale to trump them all. But while its a masterpiece in terms of emergent gameplay and open world design, story and storytelling are two areas where Breath of the Wild is at its weakest. It never quite maximizes the potential of its interesting post-apocalyptic setting, while characters are also never developed quite as much as we would have liked. the game also hints at some very interesting lore, but never really does much with it- it’s a story, in the end, that has a lot of potential, but sadly enough, it never meets that potential.
