A FINE NIGHT FOR IT
We’ve talked about this before in one of our earlier features, but Red Dead Redemption 2’s swampy Bayou north of Saint Denis is absolutely terrifying. Not because it has a creepy, tense air about it. Not because it’s crawling with alligators that are ridiculously hard to spot and can kill you within seconds. Not because of the ghost lady. Not even because of the thick fog that often seems to roll in out of nowhere. I mean, okay, it’s scary for those reasons too, but the Night Folk are the single most terrifying thing about the entire area. A group of savages who wear white face paint and kill people mercilessly and then leave their corpses out as warning signs, hanging from branches or nailed to tree trunks. The quest titled “A Fine Night For It” is concerned directly with the Night Folk, as Arthur meets a stranger who asks him for help reclaiming his house back from the crazy, scary group. It’s a brief encounter, but it does enough in that brief time to imprint itself in your memory.
