THE VETERAN
Like many other memorable questlines in Red Dead Redemption 2, “The Veteran” doesn’t sound like much on paper, with fairly generic sounding quest objectives and a pretty simple setup. But just like those other questlines, the strength of excellent writing and a fantastic central character elevate it to great heights. “The Veteran” is all about Hamish Sinclair, a veteran, as the name suggests, of the Civil War, who, in spite of having lost his leg during combat and having to wear a prosthetic one, continues to have a positive outlook in life. As the questline progresses, Arthur develops a great friendship with Hamish, and watching the two interact with each other is absolutely delightful. Sadly, things don’t end well for Hamish, which makes everything that preceded somehow even more poignant.
