Looter shooters such as the likes of Destiny, Borderlands, and The Division feature this enemy type in spades. Bullet sponges are mostly high-level enemies that take a ton of shots before going down. They also rarely react to the player’s attacks, continuing to fire even after being shot. Filling entire clips into a single enemy’s skull and seeing them still shooting at you is not only wildly unrealistic but also not fun from a gameplay perspective.
