When you talk about cliffhangers, you might as well talk about Valve’s Half-Life series. Every single mainline entry – from Half-Life to Half-Life 2: Episode 2 – ends on a cliffhanger. The G-Man recruiting Gordon after he just defeated the Nihilanth? The G-Man appearing after the Citadel’s destruction in the sequel? Events just fading to black after the morose ending to Episode 2? Cliffhanger, cliffhanger, cliffhanger and it’s been years since any real follow-up.
