Sonic Colors Ultimate
The output of Sonic games from 2005 to 2010 was a mixed bag from decent efforts like Sonic Unleashed to utter disasters like Sonic 06 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Colors got things back on track though, sticking to the classic speed-focused gameplay while implementing Unleashed’s Boost mechanic.
It also introduced the Wisps, unique power-ups with abilities like transforming Sonic into a drill that could tunnel through soft ground, and much more. The light-hearted story-telling, excellent production values and stellar level design, which felt like the right balance between 2D and 3D gameplay, helped Sonic Colors stand out.
