Combining space-based exploration with its roguelite elements was a smart touch – contextualizing those roguelite elements as a timeloop which sees the sun going supernova was flat out genius. Exploring Outer Wilds’ solar system and getting to learn new things about it, and then using that knowledge to be able to progress even further in subsequent runs is an unbelievably addictive experience. This might not be the biggest release of the year, but it sure as hell is one you should’t miss out on.
