APEX LEGENDS REVEAL AND LAUNCH
2018 was dominated by Fortnite, and though 2019 didn’t see Epic’s battle royale game diminishing in popularity (not even close), it did see the game getting some solid competition from a newcomer- Apex Legends. EA revealed the Respawn-developed free-to-play battle royale title out of nowhere, and then immediately launched it- and it turned out to be a great move, because Apex hit the ground running, immediately amassing massive numbers of players. We don’t mind knocking EA when they make mistakes (we’re not really unique in that regard), but they deserve a ton of credit for the way they handled Apex Legends’ reveal, launch, and post-launch support.
