8. Rise of the Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider was one of 2013’s best games, so it’s no surprise that there’s a lot of hype behind Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics’ latest entry in the franchise. We don’t know too much about the game yet, but we do know that the story will focus on Lara’s struggle to come to grips with what happened to her – and what she did – on the island, and that it’s coming first to Xbox One due to a partnership with Microsoft. The story seems to be focusing on a side of the modern action hero we don’t normally get to see, and that fact alone makes the game compelling. The fact that it’s the sequel to one of this generation’s finest action adventure titles? That’s just the icing on the cake.
