Ninja Gaiden’s 2004 reboot successfully revived the franchise with its character-action gameplay, while also successfully replicating its predecessors’ tendency to really test players. The boss fight against Alma was emblematic of that. With her combination of speed and formidable attacks, Alma was by far the hardest boss in the game, and for a game that was as challenging as Ninja Gaiden was, that’s really saying something.
