The Pit’s Background Fight
Finally, one of the coolest references can be found in the Krypt when you head to The Pit, specifically the bridge that must be repaired with Soul Fragments. If you turn the camera around, you’ll spot Rain and Blaze fighting in the background. This references the many times that battles have been fought in the background’s bridge like Mortal Kombat 2 and Shaolin Monks (which both featured a character that resembled Blaze). You can spot a similar kind of fight in Mortal Kombat 9 and 10.
