HORIZON ZERO DAWN
The idea of fighting against mechanical monsters using nothing but traps and a bow and arrow sounds exciting on paper- and thankfully, in Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s exciting in practice as well. There are lots of factors that contribute to that- the excellent and varied design of the machines, each demanding unique strategies; the variety of tools that you can make use of to tip the scales in your favour; how you can break of machines’ own weapons and use them against yourself. Sure, the game stumbles when it comes to melee combat and stealth, but the overwhelming majority of the experience is defined by stellar combat.
