Anthem
For an IP that was in development for so long, it’s kind of sad that BioWare’s Anthem settled on the live service, looter shooter market that embraced Destiny 1 and made it such a big success. It’s even worse when you consider reports of the development team’s leads not wanting Destiny to be mentioned at all as a point of comparison. Despite its long development cycle, however, it was ultimately put together in less than two years and rushed out the door with a roadmap promising so much and ultimately delivering very little. In terms of trying to cash in on a trend and net that sweet live service revenue, Anthem brought in some cash but was ultimately a huge failure. Its previously rumored revamp, Anthem Next, was also scrapped in February 2021 and though its servers are still up, support has pretty much ceased.
