DONKEY KONG COUNTRY TROPICAL FREEZE
In an age where Nintendo puts out side scrolling platformers like Kirby and New Super Mario Bros., both of which require next to skill even at the best of times, Retro’s Donkey Kong Country titles are a much welcome reprieve for old school plaforming enthusiasts. Tropical Freeze on the Switch is a brilliant game, just as it was on the Wii U, with its difficulty coming from nothing but genius level design. All you need to do to overcome the hurdles the game throws at you is just be good at it, and the satisfaction you get from successfully making it through some of its most challenging levels is unmatched. Tropical Freeze’s Switch version has an easier mode, which many would greatly appreciate, but for those looking to get the most out of the experience, the harder the difficulty, the more fun you’ll have.
