GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION
God of War was already on shaky legs by the time Ascension came out, with its tried-and-true formula beginning to show its age. Ascension was just the final nail in the coffin. It had all the ingredients of a good God of War game- high-octane set-piece moments, brutal and bloody combat, a decent story that delved further into Kratos’ past. The problem was that the series had done all of these things ad nauseam for five games back-to-back already. Ascension proved that people were desperate for God of War to change and reinvent itself- which it did, some years later, to great effect. Oh, and yes, we know Ascension had a multiplayer mode as well, but… yeah, let’s not talk about that.
