The Unfair Platformer
Take Mario apart and put it back together, making all the effort in the world to be the biggest prick possible. Hide spikes and missing blocks while emphasizing memorization and split-second decision making. Then just pile it all on, without ceasing, burying the player in deceptions, false truths, true truths, true truths that nonetheless get you murdered and a heavy infatuation for spikes.
See that nice empty space to jump on? Spikes. See that gap you need to jump through between two moving blocks? Move fast because the blocks have spikes. But seriously move fast since a block will just suddenly materialize and hinder you, thus facilitating your death.
