Father to Son – Assassin’s Creed 3
Haytham Kenway’s introduction in Assassin’s Creed 3 is slow but well done. So when it’s revealed that he’s actually a Templar, the split in loyalty between him and his son Connor is all the more pronounced. Haytham feels diametrically opposed to Connor, attempting to replace George Washington with Charles Lee. Father and son subsequently duel and the former is left defeated. It’s then that he drops these memorable last words: “Don’t think I have any intention of caressing your cheek and saying I was wrong. I will not weep and wonder what might have been. I’m sure you understand. Still… I’m proud of you in a way. You’ve shown great conviction. Strength. Courage. All noble qualities. I should have killed you long ago.” If nothing else, Haytham admired his son, even after being struck down by him.
