From the time Xen invaded Earth to the Seven Hour War, it was obvious that there was some higher power making plans for Gordon Freeman. The G.Man may not have laid all his cards on the table and still remains a mystery but with this one line, he conveyed the sheer power that Gordon Freeman possessed in affecting change. With this line opening Half Life 2, the world went from oppressed under alien rule to severely damaging the Combine and wrecking the Citadel, all thanks to Freeman’s return.
