With global shortages and high demands, obtaining the regular version of a new console can be a pain. However, the feeling of limited quantities should be all too familiar to rare console collectors especially as time goes by and they become more expensive. Let’s take a look at some rare console editions that are well beyond one’s reach, either in price or availability.
Nintendo 64 Pikachu Version
Given how massively popular Pokemon was (and still is), it only made sense for Nintendo to release a limited edition console that promoted the franchise. Pikachu was a particular favorite thanks to the animated show but the Nintendo 64 Pikachu Version was actually a Toys R Us exclusive. Along with a blue and yellow scheme, it replaced the main system buttons with a Poke Ball and Pikachu itself, the latter lighting up when the console was on. Be prepared to pay a bomb for it though – it can cost anywhere from $500 to $2000 for the complete set.
