Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Metal Gear Solid is one of the most revered names when it comes to modern stealth games, and for good reason. Konami has done a fabulous job with each new release in the franchise – constantly evolving its formula to suit the tastes of ever-changing trends in the industry while retaining its identity. So when open world games took the industry by storm in the 2010s, Metal Gear Solid also needed to change accordingly.
Combining two wildly different genres like stealth and open world is a pretty tough challenge from a development standpoint. The large open spaces give players unparalleled freedom to make the most out of their vast arsenal of tools, and the simulation would react appropriately to your moves to keep things interesting and challenging. Metal Gear Solid 5 succeeds in being both an open world game and a stealth sandbox, and that’s despite the turbulent development cycle that the game endured.
