Drakengard (Final Ending)
There is no happy ending in Drakengard. None whatsoever. In fact, the final ending is perhaps the most nightmarish of the bunch. Baby-like creatures called Watcher emerge from the sky and must be fought until coming face to face with their leader named Mother. Defeat her and suddenly, protagonist Caim and his dragon Angelus are in Tokyo. Modern day Tokyo. They’re promptly shot down by fighter jets and Angelus’ corpse is impaled on Tokyo Tower. Yeah, we got nothing and to think this is the canon ending that leads to Nier.
