Okay, so theorising on Death Standing 2’s narrative is a fruitless exercise. There is an abundance of potential directions On the Beach’s story can travel but Hideo Kojima’s insistence on using the strapline ‘should we have connected?’ alludes to a few clues. One such is its established that adding more shelters to the UCA network increases chiralium and timefall rain’s frequency, so connecting so much, so soon during DS1 appears to be the cause behind DS2’s havoc and destruction. That’s just an idea, there are plenty more in-depth theories out there, or you could wait to play the game for some answers and more questions.
