NEED FOR SPEED: PAYBACK
Need for Speed: Payback was a pretty disappointing game to begin with, but the addition of lootboxes made it that much more intolerable. The game doesn’t technically lock any upgrades or purchases behind real transactions, but the amount of time it takes to unlock those things without spending real money is ridiculous. Payback suggests very heavily to its players that it’d be better and easier if they just spent more real money to buy those upgrades, quite similar to Battlefront II. Of course, in recent days, following the Battlefront II controversy, EA have decided to change this model, but that leads to the question why they were in there to begin with.
