NADINE ROSS
Brothers Nathan and Samuel Drake can make things difficult for whatever adversary crosses their paths, but perhaps not a single person in their entire lives has been as sick of the fact of their very existence as Nadine Ross. Every punch she lands on the two of them feels like a release of pent up rage, every word she speaks to them drips with suppressed frustration, and when she leaves Nate to die in the smouldering ruins of a half-sunken ship, you can almost sense her giddy relief that she probably won’t ever have to see the man again.
And you know what? It’s almost kind of understandable. Not only does Nate (and Sam) act like a wisecracking jackass around her more than half the time (which, to be fair, is just who he is), he also perfectly encapsulates, from Nadine’s perspective at least, the meaning of the phrase “pain in the ass”. Because of Nate and Sam, Nadine not only never receives the treasure she had been looking for, she is also betrayed by her own employees, her private military company is stolen from right under her nose, and she nearly dies on a number of occasions. Sure, Sam and Nadine kind of patch things up – at least a teeny tiny bit, but will she ever really get over her exasperation over the Drake brothers? I doubt it.
