In each game you must recruit the 108 Stars of Destiny to get the best ending (the third game is an exception since this unlocks the ability to as the villain). To reiterate, that’s 108 different characters you need to have in your party, facilitating exploration, talking to almost everyone and fulfilling their every possible demand.
