Meryl is Shot – Metal Gear Solid

There are many Metal Gear moments that one could look back on but this one doesn’t get nearly enough attention. After helping Snake navigate past some mines, Meryl is shot thrice by Sniper Wolf and unable to move. As she lays on the floor, bleeding out, she acknowledges this to be the oldest tactic in the book – having her serve as bait for Snake. However, she then implores Snake to shoot her so that she can at least be useful and not weigh him down. Her words on how war is ugly but that Snake should continue living and not give up on people are brief but still powerful.
