The idea of an ultimate Resident Evil game with multiple campaigns starring some of the series’ most popular characters sounded like a slam dunk on paper when Capcom first talked about it. Sadly, the game itself ended up representing everything that was wrong with the franchise at the time. RE6 has been criticized to hell and back over the years, and we don’t need to rehash all of that here, but to say that it nearly killed this iconic franchise and completely tore away its identity wouldn’t be an exaggeration in the slightest. Thankfully, that all seems like a very distant memory now.
