RESIDENT EVIL 2 (2019)
Playing, replaying, and re-replaying Resident Evil games on higher difficulties is something of a time-honoured tradition for series fans, and like more than a few other games in the franchise, 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake excels in this area (among others). On Hardcore difficulty, you have your regular bumps to how durable and deadly enemies are, but on top of that, the game also completely removes autosaves, while making saving entirely manual and dependent on finite resources that you have to scavenge in the form of, of course, ink ribbons. Rushing through a hallway packed with zombies while Mr. X is chasing you down as you desperately try to make it to a safe room and save your game can be quite the rush.
