1. Solid characters
Ghosts tried hard to make players associate with the characters. And it failed horribly. It happened so because the game did not have on build up of the story. Captain Price had been a legend but his character really came out in the fourth iteration. Which also happens to be the most heart wrenching game in the series.
MW made players have a look into almost every characters’ little struggles and their lives and it was just so brilliantly executed that towards the end of the game, you couldn’t help but squirm with agony and pain as you saw the most unlikely of things happening to various characters. Ghosts starts off on a bloody note and fails to spur the player’s interest in the characters of the game. Sledgehammer would do good to keep in mind the legacy of the games and not botch it up.
Call of Duty 4 was hands down, the best game that the CoD franchise has ever come up with. And for once, Infinity Ward managed to continue the legacy beautifully instead of hitting a despicable low after a grand success. But their time came, and it was named CoD: Ghosts. There are too many flaws in that game to mention in one article. Activision has bought time for IW to make things right but that doesn’t mean that we’ll cut some slack for Sledgehammer Games.
If Activision has chosen to make the franchise yearly, it’s on their shoulders to not botch something like Call of Duty up. We have had high expectations from the CoD series time and again, and Sledgehammer has a lot of ground to prove their worth with the next Call of Duty game.
