Spare some sympathy for Joel, who lost his daughter during the initial outbreak and had to trek across the country with Ellie, surviving all manner of terrible weather, illness, attacks from Clickers and whatnot. It’s no picnic for Ellie either as she’s captured with attempts to initiate her into a cannibal group. Eventually, Ellie escapes by killing her captors in brutal fashion. She also comes close to drowning near the end before almost having part of her brain removed.
