Speaking of games that have aged magnificently- no matter how good racers get (and they’ve gotten really good at times), it’s hard to shake the feeling that they’ll probably be never as good as Burnout 3: Takedown was. Criterion’s racer was just the embodiment of pure, unadulterated fun. Every second of Burnout 3 a perfect blend of ridiculous sense of speed, thrilling vehicular action, stylish takedowns, and ridiculously over-the-top crashes, all of it against an incredible soundtrack. It was laser-focused on a singular vision, and it was so much better for it.
