Hades
Hades is the complete package in so many different ways that it’s incredible. The rogue-lite action, from the responsive combat and weapons to the sheer number of Boon combinations, is already excellent. The presentation, from the gorgeous 2D visuals to the rocking soundtrack, are also stellar. But the unforgettable characterization and the masterful way it handles story progression, making what would be a simple tale of rebellion into a nuanced saga of family, is truly amazing. Even if rogue-lites aren’t your thing, Hades warrants a closer look.
