Yes, Mario Kart 8 first released for the Wii U in 2014 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a port with all of the DLC included. However, this is no simple port. On top of being an excellent kart racer with gorgeous visuals running at 60 fps, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adds even more content. Six new characters including Splatoon’s Inklings, Bowser Jr. and Metal Mario join the already massive roster. Eight new arenas and several new modes were added to Battle Mode, making it way more enjoyable than the base game.
