Speaking of surpassing expectations, Guerrilla Games had its work cut out with Horizon Forbidden West but pretty much over-delivered. Aloy ventures to several lush new regions with new villages and allies while delving into new Cauldrons and battling never-before-seen Machines. New equipment and armor sets are a given yet Forbidden West also completely overhauls its skill trees and crafting, packs tons of new activities and challenges, and even offers some of the best dialogue scenes in the open-world space. For those reasons and many more, it’s unmissable.
