CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3 arrived in the early years of the Xbox One’s life, and showed everyone at large just what open world games will be capable of going forward. Where once it was widely believed that storytelling and open world design just don’t gel, The Witcher 3 conclusively proved that wrong, telling an unforgettable story with proper choice and consequence mechanics in a massive, gorgeous open world that was also brimming with incredibly designed optional content. We can only hope that the series’ future instalments will be able to live up to the high standards set by The Witcher 3.
