20. The Orange Box

The Orange Box, actually, was more of a compilation, but the games that the “Box” consisted of were like none other. Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal- all of them spectacular experiences, especially Portal, which is probably Valve’s best game till date. There is a lot that can be said about The Orange Box, so why don’t you, who haven’t done so yet, give it a try and prepare to experience one of the best games on the PS3.

19. Grand Theft Auto IV

Rockstar nailed it when it comes to critical success with Grand Theft Auto 4, and considering the fact that it is sitting on 98 Metacritic, it should be one of the best games ever, right? Well, the user opinions are a bit mix and it seems like a love- hate type of a game. But technically what it accomplished in 2008 made it well deserving of the praise it got. They went with a realistic design compared to the fun, chilled out experience of San Andreas and I say, it was for the best.

18. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

After the awesomeness that was Uncharted 2, no one could thought Naughty Dog could churn out a worthy sequel. Before its release, Uncharted 3 received a lot of hate, especially for its multiplayer, but my, oh my, when it was released, all our doubts were swept aside, and we were treated with what is possibly one of the best games of this generation. High on ridiculously dramatic set pieces and intense action, with incredible, likable characters, a great story and an addictive multiplayer mode to boot, Uncharted 3 definitely deserves to be on this list.

17. Dragon Age: Origins

Old school RPG by Bioware? Colour me shocked. This is one of the best WRPGs on the PS3 and except some frame rate issues here and there, the game is pretty competent. Bioware managed to create a rich and immerse world with an easy to grasp battle system. If you love RPGs, this game should be in your collection.

16. Batman: Arkham City

Arkham City was to Arkham Asylum was Assassin’s Creed II was to Assassin’s Creed, what Mass Effect 2 was to Mass Effect, what Uncharted 2 was to Uncharted. It was a radical change to the very formula of the original game, and it was almost as if AA was just a demo, and AC the full fledged game Rocksteady had intended to create all along. Featuring a staggering amount of enemies, great writing, a huge city to explore and countless hours of gameplay, Arkham City is a definite contender for GOTY this year.

15. Killzone 2

Killzone 2 is one of my favourite FPS games, and the main reason for that was the multiplayer. It was very unique and created by a team who knew what they were doing. This is one of the good looking console games ever, and the graphics will still excite you. The PS3 was lacking in some decent first-party FPS shooters, but this game changed that. One of the must buy games for the PS3.

14. Portal 2

Portal 2 is a creative and engaging little game, and one that can appeal to every kind of gamer- hardcore or casual, shooter fan or RPG fan. It is one of the best games of not just 2011, but maybe of this entire generation. Sure, it has a short campaign, but the with a co-op campaign to boot, it’s more than bang worth your buck. With excellent puzzles, creative, ingenious level design, hilarious writings and characters that will stay with you long after you’re done with the game, Portal 2 is one game that shouldn’t be missed.

13. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

This game is revolutionary. It changed the entire industry’s perception to first-person shooters, as you see many fps games copying the multiplayer component of MW. The single player mode wasn’t that bad either. I can actually say that it’s one of the best fps campaigns I have played this gen. It’s one of the best fps games to have graced the PS3.

12. Gran Turismo 5

Gran Turismo 5 may not be as good as Gran Turismo 3 was, but it surely is the best racing experience on the PlayStation 3 yet. Featuring over 1000 brilliantly designed vehicles, over 70 tracks and tons of gameplay modes, Gran Turismo 5 can get players hooked for months and months at end, if not more. Sure, the game has some issues, but if you actually see the amount of gameplay hours that are on offer here, you’ll forget all about the cons of this experience. If you own a PlayStation 3, Gran Turismo 5 is one game that you have to get.

11. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Scrolls’ games are quite famous, as they provide a lot of freedom to players and usually immerse them in a fantastically realized world. The PS3 port was much superior to its 360 counterpart but what made it amazing that it was one of the first high rated WRPG on the system. This game should be in your collection if you own a PS3.
