42. AAA titles arriving for tablets and smartphones
It started with mobile games releasing for iOS and Android that had their own appeal and saw an enormous degree of success. Now, big name publishers are beginning to see the benefits of developing for smartphones and tablets. XCOM: Enemy Unknown was recently brought to the iPad and iPhone. It wasn’t a port or a watered down experience either – if you played last year’s award winning tactical strategy game on the PC or consoles, then this was the exact same experience albeit with touch controls. Other games like Deus Ex: The Fall show it’s possible to have console level experiences on mobile platforms without much issue but expect to see more AAA titles heading to the small screen in the near future.
