43. Single player games with persistent online elements
Whether to halt piracy or facilitate an environment where players can constantly interact with each other or do it alone whenever they choose, more single-player games over the next few years will incorporate persistent online elements into their campaigns. We’re already seeing this with games like AC4 and the upcoming Watch Dogs – which thankfully don’t need to be online to be enjoyed. Some titles like Titanfall, however, can only be played online and a game like Destiny will undoubtedly require you to be logged in, just so you can remain connected to other players (think of something like Path of Exile, and you’ll get the idea).
