Rocket Arena
Final Strikes Games’ Rocket Arena may have gained the most exposure from its appearance at EA Play Live 2020 in June but it was actually revealed for the first time in May 2019. Nexon was originally slated to publish but parted ways with the developer two months after the reveal. After releasing in July 2020 under the EA Originals label, the shooter failed to gain much of a following. This is despite launching on both Origin and Steam for PC along with Xbox One and PS4.
While the critical reception was fine, the total number of players on Steam went from a peak of 1102 in July to just 96 in September. This is despite dropping the price to just $5 in less than two months after launch. So what happened exactly? Did it suffer from being another hero shooter with no unique hook or identity? Was there just not enough content? Should it have gone free to play to begin with? Whatever the case may be and despite regular updates, Rocket Arena doesn’t seem like it’ll be making a comeback anytime soon.
