NARC

NARC

Williams Electronics’ NARC originally released in 1988 and was a run and gun arcade title whose violence inspired controversy. In 2005, VIS Entertainment and Midway Games released an updated fully 3D version of the game that was still very much about taking down criminals and confiscating evidence. Of course, you quickly go from small-time cop to blowing up vans with an RPG and brutally interrogating criminals before executing them. It comes across as fairly arcadey but even causing random chaos on the streets gets old fast (and the production values are fairly low). Overall, not a complete rip-off of GTA but clearly taking a few elements to cash in on the controversial NARC name.
