Can Halo: Reach Outsell Call of Duty: Black Ops? Microsoft Thinks So

Posted By | On 11th, Sep. 2010

With two megaton First Person Shooters, Microsoft’s Halo: Reach and Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, looming large on the horizon, comparisions are bound to be drawn between them. Both of them are known to be franchises that sell like crazy. And with all the talks about which will outsell the other this time around, Microsoft has stepped in, and they claim that their upcoming Bungie developed shooter, Halo Reach will outsell Black Ops this autumn. By the way, I’ll never know why we have a silent ‘n’ at the end of ‘autumn.’

“It’s going to be a really good fight and yes I do believe [Halo: Reach will win it]. We have huge expectations,” Stephen McGill, head of Xbox UK, said while talking to Eurogamer.

“More than 34 million people have bought a Halo game and those people are going to want to play Halo: Reach. We’re going to do incredibly well,’ he continued. “Halo was the stand-out title when we launched Xbox ten years ago. It was the title that made FPS on consoles an accessible, fun, life-changing experience.”

McGill expects to see Halo: Reach getting “very good, very high, glowing reviews” when the embargo lifts tomorrow morning. He says he’s already seen some magezine reviews, and he is very happy with them.

When asked about Halo’s future when it’s responsibility will be taken away from Bungie, he said that the series is “in very good hands” and that Microsoft and the studio in action have “great plans” for the franchise.

What do you think? Which game will outsell the other? You can tell us in the comments below. If you have problem deciding, you can check out our previews for Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops and see which one looks better till now.
