Frictional Games has provided an update for the PC horror sequel Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, developed by thechineseroom. Originally intended to be an “experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia”, thechineseroom instead put forth a much bigger vision which resulted in a full-fledged game.

That final version is now complete and is in Frictional’s possession. The game will be releasing in the second quarter of 2013 to allow for “testing, tweaking, optimizing, porting, translating and all those things that are part of the process of creating and releasing a game”, according to Frictional.

As of now, there’s still a lot of details to be provided such as pricing and availability. But Frictional describes this as “a fully fledged Amnesia game. A different kind of Amnesia, but definitely not a short experiment.”

If it’s even half as terrifying or unsettling as the original, it’ll be worth the wait. Stay tuned for more details.
