Avalanche Studios Has No Plans for Wii U, Dev Kits Collecting Dust

Well, this isn’t good.

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios recently spoke Norwegian site PressFire (translated by NeoGAF user Flightmare) and outlined their current development with the Nintendo Wii U. Or rather, the lack of it.

Founder & CCO Christofer Sundberg stated that the studio has no plans for developing for the Wii U. He also said that the user base for the console was too small for Avalanche to take any risks. He also pointed out that there are many developers of the same view point.

He also said Nintendo was very hard to reach, and you never knew when you’d be able to get in touch with them or where to turn for support.

“We actually had some develop consoles [Dev Kits] that just collected dust. It’s a little sad, because we were wanted to do something. I think it is a cool platform, but right now it’s not just up to us. We want the game to release on as wide [a variety of platforms] as possible.

“I think Nintendo has much to gain by going the same way as Sony, by stretching out a hand to the developers so as to include even more,” stated Sundberg.

For now though, the only dealing Sundberg has with the Wii U is Skylanders Giants, which his kids play.
