Kojima Productions’ Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain left us all impressed at this year’s E3. We’ve since learned that the game, which incorporates a vast open world and interactive vehicles into its stealth gameplay, will release on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Speaking to Polygon, Hideo Kojima stated that, “For this project we were using the PC to build the Fox Engine to create our game. We’re using the current-generation as a [guideline]. While we were developing on current-gen, next-gen came long. We’re really trying to reach the peak of the current generation right now — 360, PS3 — and then see how much we can take it up for the next-generation.”

For that matter, Kojima states that, “Once we start going into development for next-generation we’re definitely looking for something better than [what] we have shown today” with the goal being to have 60 frames per second on next gen consoles.

Metal Gear Solid V will also have some kind of support for smartphones and tablets down the line. “You can also enjoy the game with multiple devices. With MGS5, I feel that [using] multiple devices, tablets and smartphones and how to interact with it socially is a big step forward.”
