Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 managed to sell through one million units “during the first 24 hours after it became available” in North America on November 15th.
President and group CEO Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House stated that, “PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal.
“Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.”
The PS4 has managed good business despite effectively being hampered by hardware issues which affected 0.4 percent of shipped units, a relatively weak launch line-up and issues with certain key launch titles such as Battlefield 4. It will be launching in Europe on November 29th and will be contending with the launch of the Xbox One on November 22nd.
