Is High Moon Developing This Year’s PS3 and 360 Versions of Call of Duty?

Looks like the last gen systems get stuck with a side project.

That there will be a new Call of Duty game this year is as sure as the light of day. That it will be on literally every single gaming platform known to mankind is a sure thing as well. Among these platforms will be the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, which collectively represent an audience of around 160 million, and Call of Duty’s most lucrative demographic.

And yet, it seems like the main team itself has moved on fully to next generation game development, leaving High Moon Studios, the guys who brought us the excellent and underrated Transformers: War for Cybertron, to handle the Xbox 360/PS3 (and presumably Wii U) versions in their absence.

VideoGamer reports that multiple listings seem to be hinting at that, stating that the studio is developing a “high-profile, First Person Shooter”, with one specifying that the game is heading to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 explicitly. Another listing asks for experience with the Radiant Engine, which is the level editor used for Call of Duty maps, so it seems to be pretty telling.

This might be the final year that these systems get a Call of Duty game, and it sort of makes sense that they would get a side project not developed by the lead studio (the PS2’s last Call of Duty game was World at War: Pacific Fronts, which was a side project not headed by the main team).
