The NPD has published its most recent sales report on console hardware and software sales in the United States and the PlayStation 4 is once again on top. While it managed to sell 6 million units worldwide at last count, it also stood ahead of the Xbox One for the fourth time since both both consoles launched in November.

Xbox One sales averaged about 258,000 units sold for February with the Xbox 360 selling 114,000 units (and ranking on top among the current gen platforms). Interestingly, despite being behind the PS4’s lifetime sales, the Xbox One is still selling 61 percent more than the Xbox 360 for the same period after lunch. Both Xbox platforms still account for 43 percent of the home console market in the US.

Finally, Nintendo’s Wii U managed to sell 100,000 units, showing a 25 percent year-on-year increase thanks to the release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. According to NPD’s John Callahan, “The majority of hardware platforms experienced double-to-triple digit increases compared to January 2014.”
