Composer Marty O’Donnell, who captured many a gamer’s imagination with his soundtracks on the Halo series, is no longer with Bungie. Posting on Twitter, O’Donnell said, “I’m saddened to say that Bungie’s board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014.”

Bungie, for its part, made a statement on the same. “For more than a decade, Marty O’Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans.

“Today, as friends, we say goodbye. We know that wherever his journey takes him, he will always have a bright and hopeful future. We wish him luck in all his future endeavors.”” It however didn’t address why O’Donnell was terminated.

The release is especially significant considering that O’Donnell has been with the company since 1999, a short while before it embarked on developing the Halo series exclusively for Microsoft in the next decade. What are your thoughts on this development? Let us know below.
